My education with cooking is a skill that I will bring into my future classroom. Teaching students that not all valuable learning comes from books, but hands-on experiential learning as well. As an educator, I want to provide students with the knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating choices. By teaching students how to cook, this helps with students’ accountability and responsibility. Furthermore, cooking provides enjoyment and engagement in the learning atmosphere and building up student confidence. Moreover, it provides learning opportunities for students to apply these skills at home. Cooking allows for cross curricular experiences where students can learn about science, mathematics and much more.
