This collage looks at various foundations of education and why they matter. When creating this, each student was given a different educational foundation lens to look “through.” As for myself, I was given the lens of cultural diversity. I know how important cultural diversity is and the importance of knowledge around the many diversities that will be within one classroom. Canada is a multicultural country, and in order to shed light on the various diversities, as an educator, it is important to show students how to embrace their unique individualities and show each other the importance of respect and inclusion. Children will be entering the classroom not only from different parts of the world, but some might come from unsafe homes, affected by poverty and many other aspects. Knowing the challenges that arise from diversity, I know that my classroom will be a space for all students to feel welcomed, included, safe, respected and much more.
